As we were approaching our 10 year anniversary, I asked Jen how she wanted to celebrate. I figured she would want to get a babysitter and go out to dinner or something lame, but she surprised me by saying that she wanted to go to the mountains and do some serious hiking together! What a woman! There are so many reason why she is cooler than the girl I married 10 years ago. So we tried to arrange someone to take our kids for a weekend, but at the last minute it all fell apart and we had to take them with us. How romantic! Fortunately another young lady came with us who could help watch the kids at the campsite while we went off on day hikes.
We had a great time and took lots of pictures. This post will show some of the fun that we had around the campsite at the Alaudin Lakes, and the next post will show the hikes that we did.

There were some other folks up at the lakes as well. Enough trekkers use the lake as a base camp for expeditions that one family has taken up summer residence by the lake to provide meals to campers too weary to cook or gather wood. This family had a few kids that Ella loved playing with. By the end she was asking if we could live at the lake...
There were several small lakes in the area, and they all had one thing in common: cold, clear water...
