update

Wow, its been quite a day. We had already been advised by a group of foreign doctors who, after extended consultations, wanted us back in the USA as soon as possible. But then the insurance company got involved, and they have their own doctors. Throughout the day we had several phone calls and emails each leading us to believe that another plan was in place - Maybe all of us to the USA, or just Jen and Ella, or just Jen to India or Thailand, or maybe a med evac plane to take her to Germany, or who knows how many other scenarios. In the end, they finally ordered Jen to take the next commercial flight to Istanbul, where she will be taken to "The American Hospital" (after checking with a friend in Istanbul we learned that there are no actual Americans working at the American Hospital) and seen by a neurologist. If everything is OK, they will send her back on the next plane to Taj, which is great because it allows us to still use the tickets home that we had bought a month ago. After hearing some of the other options that the insurance company doctors were thinking of, we are quite happy with this arrangement. The thing that most of the other scenarios had in common was us losing a lot of money, and this one potentially wont cost us anything. So if Jen is fine, it will mean Daddy and Ella will have a few days of misery bonding until her return.

All of the doctors that we have talked to say it is likely that Jen's aphasia (difficulty speaking) was nothing more than the unusual side-effect of a migraine headache. However, they have concerns that it could have been one of a number of other more serious issues. So they will stick her in an MRI and test her blood and ask her to count backwards from 100 by sevens while standing on her head and juggling applesauce, then they will be able to make their recommendation. And if she is OK, she will be back in Taj on the next flight and this will be nothing but a bad dream in a few days.
