We escaped from transit prison today. If you are wondering what this place is like, imagine the filthiest airport terminal you can think of, then take away anything that would make it remotely comfortable, such as restaurants, stores, or clean bathrooms, then station soldiers at the exits. Then think of being stuck there for 41 hours without any reason given, with a baby, when you had a valid visa for entrance into a country where you once did humanitarian work.
Anyway, enough about this place. The point is that we are out. They deported us to Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan today, where we are staying with a lovely American family. We are showered, fed, and working on getting some rest. Happiness is having a shower after 28 hours of travel followed directly with 41 hours of transit hall detention.
The plan (notice the itinerary to the right has been modified for the new situation) now is to fly to Osh, Kyrgyzstan tomorrow, where we will stay until April 27, when our visas for Tajikistan become valid. Pray for us during this time as we explore opportunities for future work in one of these places. Also please continue to pray for us, as these events in Uzbekistan have been profoundly discouraging and a drain on us both emotionally and physically. We will need to find time to mourn all of this, as we currently find ourselves too close to the events to even be able to speak of what we have lost. We covet your prayers now more than ever.
On a happier note, today was Ella's four month birthday. I hope to post a photo or two of her tomorrow.

God is doing a good thing in the midst of your suffering. I am so proud to be your auntie and Ella's great auntie! We are checking your blog often and we are praying!
