navruz "new day"

Yesterday was one of the biggest holidays here in Central Asia. It is the Persian New Year, Navruz, which means "new day". People get dressed in their very best and walk around town.

Aaron even got into it with his toki (Tajik hat)...

The park was full of people, and our shashlik (shish-kabob) making family was there set up at 8am. Aaron helped out just long enough for me to take his picture...

There were rides at the park....


And, of course, ice cream...
