Tonight we were invited over to our future home. As we mentioned, we are moving next week to a situation that is a compromise between having our own place and living with a family. We will have a couple of rooms off of a shared courtyard. We first met the owner and looked at the house while it was still under construction. He finished it this week, just in time for the 'new-house party' (when a new home is built, people invite over relatives and neighbors for a party which is almost indistinguishable from a wedding except instead of a having bride and groom sitting up front, they sacrifice an animal). We got to meet the large extended family (70 people were there in all) and be hosted in the rooms that we will move into next Saturday.
Ellie was a riot, smooching on the little boy that is her age and impressing everyone with her "asalom" and her love for osh (the national dish).
We didn't really get any good pictures from the evening, but here is one I got while everyone was leaving one of the rooms.
