south to Iskanderkul

We drove south to Iskanderkul (Alexander's Lake) for a couple of days last weekend with some visitors on their way back to the capital. We enjoyed being in such a beautiful place and have lots of pics to show, but first here are a few that show the drive south.

As we gained elevation approaching the first pass, we found ourselves surrounded with fresh snow...

At the lake itself we stayed in these little cabins. It was like camping, but with a roof instead of a tent...
It was mighty cold at night, but the kids had their bags, made lovingly by Gma...
