But the sidewalks and squares were full of people. We were also amazed to find for the first time the water fountain near our house actually spraying water (especially remarkable after we went nearly 2 months with no water in our apartment). Ella enjoyed it, which was good, since when we returned two hours later, it was off again (the president had apparently already passed)...
We went down to the square between the bazaar and the mosque, where there was a lot of activity and Ella could really stretch her legs...

I would love to tell you that she caught it... but someone else got one for her. We had noticed a couple of young boys who looked like beggars feeding the birds (which seemed strange). When several hundred of the filthy little creatures were gathered around them, one boy struck, catching one in his hand. It was explained to us that they could sell them for a few dollars. The girl in this picture borrowed it for a minute to give Ella a closer look...
Here the winged rats are perched on the roof of the mausoleum...

Absolutely LOVE it! My favorite is the one of Ella looking at her shadow! :) I've found the remedy for a bad day: just look at videos and pictures of Ella! She makes me smile! :)
Thanks for the great Ella update. The Canadian Geese are landing already, I think we need Ella here to chase them away! Grandma & Grandpa

Ella is so precious. It's so hard to believe that she is that big already!
It's so funny that you put the bird pix on right now. Liam is all in to birds too. he'll wake up going "bir bir" and want to go right to the window to look for some.
