the peter pan 500

We drove down to Tennessee yesterday to spend a couple of days with big brother Brent's family and see the girls in their play, Peter Pan. Abigail was an Indian. Ameila was the nurse-dog, Nana.

Ella was mesmerized by the play throughout the whole 3 hour duration. Her favorites were the dog and the croc, both of which wore costumes with oversized heads. A pretty funny moment occured during the curtain call: Ella was clapping away when those two characters came out, bowed, and then... THEY TOOK OFF THEIR HEADS!!! She froze mid-clap, her face in showing the shock from what she had just witnessed. Frozen for a good 15 seconds in this pose, she slowly drew attention from those around her, oblivious to their laughter, focusing on these strange decapitated creatures.

As much as she enjoyed watching the show from 10 rows back, she sure didn't like the characters up close...

On an unrelated note, this is for James:

Every time we come down to Tennessee, we run into famous people. They are everywhere here. After the play, Brent mentions that one of the kids in the play was the grandchild of some famous race car driver. So Jen walks up to him with Ella and says "Hi Mr. Waltrip. My brother is a big fan, and this is his neice. Can we take a picture?". "Awww... Sure thing, honey" came the response in a southern drawl. We actually have no idea if James is a big fan, but we know he is into the whole cars-going-in-circles-thing. So here you go, Uncle James...
